Hi Paul, hi fellow Forumites,
Many thanks for flagging up Deal's long-awaited answer to 'Brief Encounter' and new venture of my brother Nick and I, the forthcoming Platform 1 cafe service, which will open in the former parcels office at Deal railway station in early spring 2012.
We look forward to you patronising the service (as opposed to you patronising us, or us patronising you!), which will open every weekday at the unearthly, but HS1-passenger-friendly, hour of 05.30am. We will also be open Saturdays, from 08:00am-05:30pm.
Thanks for your support thus far. We will keep you informed about the project's progress as it develops.

There is a look of Trevor Howard about Nick.......not sure what that means for Andy but is that a bit of grit in his eye?!!!
Best of luck with Platform 1; I am sure it will be a great success.

Henceforth you will hear the delicate strains of Rachmaninov's 2nd Piano Concerto gentley wafting across the platforms at Deal... seducing all into the cafe...on the off chance that you might meet the love of your life in there. And what the hell, even if you dont meet the love of your life, you can have a nice cup of coffee.

Well, there's a thing - didn't have Nick down as a cafe owner.
Hope it works out well for you both Andrew. Will Nick still keep his marketing job for LD Lines and Nausicaa - especially as LD are coming back to Dover ?
Good Luck to you both - please give Nick my best regards.

This was the launch of the Discover Dover leaflet which LD Lines put on all their ships as I understand it...worked by Nick and Roger.

Hi all,
Bumped into Paul Watkins at Deal station the other day, and he relayed his good wishes for our forthcoming Platform 1 cafe. Much appreciated. See you at the launch do, Paul (we'll be in touch nearer the date).
Thanks too for all your good wishes to Nick and I, from John Goodwin, Roger W and others - including Charlie Elphicke himself. Once again, many thanks.
Anyway, an update: the refurbishment of Platform 1 cafe is moving on apace, with Deal's very own Morgan Construction hard at work every day.
Opening early spring, we will of course keep you posted as excitement mounts nearer the big day.
In the meantime, follow us on Facebook at facebook.com/platform1deal and on Twitter @platform1deal (website coming soon too).
All aboard!
