Peter Hitchins!!!!!!!! a right wally. Please do not insult us true blues by suggesting he is one.
Keith - do you actually know what you are talking about? If so can you properly explain what your comment means so we can discuss it sensibly.

Then show it Keith - that is what I asked you to do, but no, we get the usual evasiveness from you and there can be only one conclusion from that.

i think the point being made is that hitchens is another right wing thinker that sees the blue side of the cobbled together things as weak, ineffectual and lacking in vision.

He is not a thinker Howard - he is a kamikazi extremist for whom the purism of policy is more important than the power to do what is needed.

Brown must have thought so as he created the problem Keith.
The solution - there is no magic switch to turn on and we must work through the worse economic position the UK has ever been in and it takes a lot of time to get through it.

Is it better than a young person who is still living at home with parents to be unemployed or a 35 year old parent with three kids and a mortgage to pay?

Unfortunately the cuts in spending mean the youth is in a parents home who are also unemployed and the 35 year old parent with three kids and a mortgage to pay is also unemployed and having their home repossessed.

Like all left wingers Reg, you have far too much faith in public spending. An economy is sustained by profitable businesses not public spending which is currently a unsustainable burden on those businesses. Public spending is the enemy here, not a solution, nothing is solved by piling up debt on debt.

''nothing is solved by piling up debt on debt'' that's why the Tories admitted today they are borrowing half a trillion pounds...doh

That, Marek, is exactly the point I have been making.
Osborne is not cutting fast enough or quickly enough. In fact it is only very marginally more than Labour planned and if you look at the figures it exposes a lot of the huff and puff we are getting from the opposition.
