Today is the first anniversary of his sad demise. I remember it well as were sat together in the nearby community centre where representatives of Stagecoach And Kent County Council were discussing with a large enthusiastic audience the future of the 68 bus route. Phil was busy taking notes on what was said while I filled him on who councillors and members of the general public giving strong opinions were. The meeting finished between 8. 30 an d 8. 45 pm and Phil's last words to me were " that will be on the forum sometime tomorrow".
Later in the evening the sound of emergency ambulance/police cars were heard, I thought nothing at the time as it is quite a normal sound late on a Friday or Saturday night, then the following morning Peter Garstin announced his death and one other the previous night.

The other was Pauline Crawley, landlady of the Arlington, but I thought that was Feb last year?
