Of course we have to bear in mind that the mail is one of the most successful online news outlets on the planet as opposed to the loss making Guardian and Independent. At least the mail generally represents the views of the majority of the UK whereas the other two represent the deluded dreams of those living in the trendier parts of London which is exactly why they are losing so much money.

Why do we have to bear in mind that its successful ?
How do you know it generally represents the majority of the UK ?
Did the mail tell you this ?
Why should high sales and profit mean that they are writing well researched and factual stories, and when you have polled the majority of the UK on their infinite opinions, I might be tempted to believe your statement.
The mail panders to the lowest common denominator of reader, and prints any old rubbish they will suck up as fact.

This is why forums are good things
The members can link all these things for debate
The media need to sell papers ,reporters do twist the truth on all sides
If you disagree with the link ,counter what he is saying with the facts as you see them

nicely summed up keith, good debate should be about throwing things into the mix and listening to all viewpoints.

Primary school classes are overcrowded...show a picture of what appears to be 16 year olds taking an exam.
Government ministers are screeching curses...is there any sort of evidence of this ?
Quiet spread of unofficial shanty towns...what's this the outskirts of UK towns are becoming surrounded with corrugated iron villages with no roads or sanitation.
This sort of stuff doesn't need reasoned argument to dismiss it, if it wasn't so pathetic it would be laughable.
There are problems with this kind of 'journalism', when the bigots accept it as fact, and the subjects of the story start becoming victims of the demonisation process. There have already been some very unpleasant and thoughtless comments made on this forum in the short time that I have been posting, and they don't seem to come from any rational thought process, simply a 'cut and paste' mentality.
I agree that newspapers need to run at a profit, but my point was that profits and success do not always equate to quality and honesty. Sensational banner headlines that pander to the LCD readers will always sell, just as politicians looking for your vote will tell you what you want to hear.

People are living in unhealthy condition
I was working on a site in oxford street 5 of the EU workers was camping in the basement.
Its Naive to think that if you open the doors to 3 million people they will all find legal accommodation
We haven't got shanty towns like south Africa ,but we do have some problems.
We may have problems with school places, Even the labour party have admitted theirs a problem
Cut and paste is just the way the internet works suck it up
I don't think members will stop saying thing as they see it, just because it may offend
We have forum rules and political correctness isn't one of them.

The problem is that you don't say things the way you see them, you cut and paste other peoples opinions, not only on here, but into your own head. I never said that there were no problems, I was saying that the truth had been manipulated to create an atmosphere. You have almost agreed with me that there aren't shanty towns, I never said primary schools weren't overcrowded, just asked why they put an exam room up as a linked picture, and I really don't believe government ministers are screeching curses, and in all honesty I'm sure you don't either. This is the point I was trying to make, but now after either not reading or not understanding my post, I find the internet works with cut and paste and am supposed to 'suck it up'.

I don't think much of any politician, alive or dead, with one or two exceptions, and he isn't one of them. Sorry Howard, I was mainly addressing Keith, should have made it a bit clearer.
I would hate to think anyone would think I've been offended, far from it, I don't take anything on here personally, just as I don't try to make personal attacks, apologies if anyone thinks I have. It has already been said that its about the debate, and my original point was to make a debate of the truth behind the original post.

Baz
I don't believe your neutral political, I think you very political, just my opinion
So many of this forum drivel out to be just debating but in reality are very much part of the political spin machine
Toms even got a flunky that posts for him when he's on holiday or out ,
