Sadly, as you already know EKR did not receive enough votes to win Peoples Millions.
I would like to thank all forum members who did vote for us, much appreciated.
Well done Herne Bay Pier Trust, they obviously run the better campaign and got more support than we did and in my mind any community project that's wins funding like this deservers a pat on the back, as it is no easy task.
I would like to thank all of our EKR volunteers, who did their very best to win this funding, without them there would not be a railway to get funding for, so my sincere thanks goes to all of them.
I must also thank all of our supporters, old and new, who voted for us with this project and who have shown us so much good support that we can say we at EKR are winners anyway. Thanks.
We still have a chance to win a Bonus Prize and that will be announced on Thursday. Fingers still crossed.
Of course funding is very important to us and this is not the end result that we wanted but it is just another hump in the road that we will get over in time.
Keeping our railway open and restoring it for future generations, are just two of many reasons why our Volunteers have been working so hard for over twenty years now.
This little setback will not stop them from moving on from here.
We will always need funding but you can also give them some much needed support by becoming volunteers yourselves.
We have a shortage of active volunteers, so if you have a day or two or even a few hours to spare, why don't you pop along, help us out?
Meet some great people and have some fun in your spare time?
You can help run the trains, even drive them, be a guard and wave your flag or blow your whistle, tend the Level Crossings or sell tickets in our Ticket Office.
You can help with our miniature railways, in our woodlands with educational and other outdoor projects.
Help restore our listed Gravesend Bridge or with our Electric Trolley Bus, help out our cafes and shop that all need volunteers to keep them running.
Everyone of all age groups welcome, email me at
geryekr@sky.com for more info, please?
