Gary - you have the same tax saving potential as I or anyone else with 'ordinary' resources. Its what I do, its what I recommend to clients daily. Yes I actually generate a six figure turnover for my business in which that is an integral part. You can pay me a fee and I could certainly show you how you could save a spot of tax, I am certain, even if you have modest savings. The point is that those with greater resources than you or I can take advantage of other schemes (and good luck to them), I have said that - if you read what I actually said.

You always turn to petty sarcasm and personal attacks when you have run out of an sensible argument, it is what I have come to expect from you.

Peter according to the BBC 35% is the level of taxation in the US. I got all the info from the BBC including Mitt Romney's plight.

PaulB - it depends on how the calculate the figure, band rate, top rate, include or exclude state taxes, total tax take and so on...l

35% is the top band, there are six bands and 10% is the lowest on income up to about $9,000 - these are Federal rates and the top rate is payable from something like $400,000.

It is crazily complicated over there, specially if you include State taxes as well.

Many thanks for the offer but I could not afford your fees or do I have any need for your professional advice.

I am living off a £7000 bank loan and £55.00 a week carer's allowance, with no modest savings as you put it. There are 100's of thousands of people like me or worse off.

You are an expert in your line of business and I have said before I applaud your hard work in getting where you are but that is where your expertize ends.

You have no idea what is going on outside of your circle and you refuse to listen to those who do know.

Don't chastise me for "sarcasm and personal attacks".

Mine have always been in response to yours ,so in your word's "grow up and get over it".

GaryC - that was not actually an offer, merely making a point. There is one important qualification that I have for a client that you would not meet and it is nothing to do with how much money you have.

You would actually be surprised at the scope of financial and economic matters that my business covers and the scope of clients that pay my fees and can afford them..... I am a lot cheaper than most commission only based advice...people just pay it in a different way. That though is immaterial to you regardless of your financial position. The circles in which I mix are many and varied, you frankly have no idea about that and make assumptions. Check your and my posts, where I have had a dig at you personally it has only ever been responding to your often highly personal abuse.
