I've banged on about this before and will keep on!

Those of us around in the 70s when York St dual carriageway was built to take the Eastern Docks traffic around the town instead of through it (demolishing Dover's historic lanes in the process) will remember that the profile at the Snargate St end was raised on the suggestion of a local engineer/surveyor to preserve the Roman remains underneath it for future generations to reveal.

Well if it's so little used that it's now being considered as a car park then maybe that time has been reached and the northbound carriageway should be made single lane two-way with the southbound carriageway excavated as part of Dover's heritage and tourism strategy - over to Roger!
