22:3477343Can anyone remember how long it's been like this?
I had an email reply from Kent Highways, but I'm not sure.
I know that it's been a good few months,though.
It's just before you get to McDonalds. Surely if the contractors who were working there dug the paving bricks up then they should have been put back!
What an eyesore.
Sometimes words fail me ,so have a picture.

23:0577348Alan,it's really quite shameful,isn't it?
And as you say, there are many who would see it,surely.
Those actual paving bricks are quite smart really. I wonder what happent to their neighbours

08:2577624Perhaps someone should call into the Dover Business Support Manager and ask him to follow it up ? Wouldn't it be part of his job ?

12:4577677That example of broken paving is very bad, but any others of you who have the misfortune to ride round on a wheelchair will know that this is just par for the course in Dover. The pavements are in a parlous state. Many so-called dropped pavements are not - there is a lip of a couple of inches which is quite hard to negotiate when you are not feeling a hundred per cent. Paving stones are not level, there are holes, and irregularities all over the place which make going out on my own a project to undertake with more than a degree of trepidation.

12:5077681I agree - when my Mother needs to use a wheelchair it is a nightmare trying to navigate the least uncomfortable pathways. and don't get me started about the inconsiderate drivers who park up the pavements meaning buggies, wheelchairs etc can't get past without risking the road.
Sorry Keith - our posts crossed!!!

11:4377799I am thinking of publishing a short monograph on the various and best ways of navigating Dover town centre on a wheelchair! And don't get me started on getting in and out of shops though may I just say that Marks and Sparks is a nightmare.

08:5178221Roger - sometimes it is left with a temporary surface if there is a chance they will need to return to it either because a repair does not work or if it is part of a bigger maintenance matter that will need it dug up again soon after.
They will also lay a temporary surface until a specialist paver can be brought in to make it right.
Sometimes though it just gets left and thats when the Council really must jump all over the contractor.
