As do residents in our District Peter in the designated areas. They're called residents permits not car park season tickets.

Yes and in Dover such things are unavailable to town centre residents. I'm merely comparing what is available in the two towns to town centre residents with no access to private parking.

Ask Nigel Peter, I'm sure some streets were to be designated.
But Peter , the converse is that removes free car parking for those other than residents. You can't have it both ways.

No Paul it merely reduces the council's revenue from £370 to £50. On top of which of course we are paying council tax and business rates.

Indeed you do Peter. Complex issue which are set at Government level.
For you to take up elsewhere with other elected representatives of your aquaintance.
As you have tried to simplify & generalise your point let's get back to the point.
Bottom line is Peter, car parking charges are frozen for 2012/2013
Straight forward fact.

No argument there, Reg.
Actually Paul, I'm not unaware of the issues. I just think its a little cynical to trumpet 'no increase in parking charges' in an attempt to turn an absence of bad news into good news. As I said before, it's 'aren't I a good boy, I've stopped beating my wife'.
But well done to you and Nigel for managing to avoid an increase this year.
