This is understandable, when so much still usable food is discarded, whether by householders or big supermarkets - I understand that some super stores are now passing on their 'end of shelf life' food to charities.
'End of shelf' is NOWHERE near the end of use by date. It is sad that so-called 'good business practices' have come to this !!
A friend of ours said his new 'food-waste' bin was not big enough - he had just tried to put into it three melons ('bought too much' he said), which were still OK to eat but just not wanted.
