I have just returned from Maidstone hospital and would like to say thank you to the people involved with my son tonight.
Mike is a lorry driver for a local firm. On his way back down the M20 tonight he had a bad asthma attack. He pulled over and managed to call 999 but before the ambulance arrived he was unconcious. He was taken by them to the Maidstone Hospital and during the journey his heart stopped. They brought him back and got him to the safety of the Emergency department. In the meantime two Dover policemen had gone to his wife to tell her and took her in their car with lights and sirens to his side. By the time we arrived he was lying on a trolley with tubes coming out of him and a ventilator breathing for him. Luckily his heart was now beating properly. He has to be kept under sedation until his lungs begin to work properly which could take a while. Please God let my son survive this, I couldn't bear to lose him.
He was looking forward to being at his little boys second birthday party tomorrow.
So thank you to those concerned with his care tonight and can I ask you all to say a little prayer for him tonight that he will come through this. Thank you xx

That must have been very scary for you Jacqui - and all the family too.
That certainly was a bad asthma attack - hope he makes a full recovery.
Thank goodness for the emergency services.
Our thoughts are with him and you too Jacqui.

Gosh alarming story there Jacqui. Yes will also say a prayer that all will be okay. Yes once again the emergency services did a great job. Ive been on the receiving end of help from the various services at certain times and its only then that you appreciate what they do.

Oh my gosh, how absolutely terrible. Thank goodness he managed to do 999 before becoming unconscious, and thank goodness he is now in the right place to be cared for.
We really are thinking of you all.

Thank you all so much for all your kind wishes, they mean such a lot to us.
I've just got back from the hospital tonight and although still heavily sedated he has started to respond to the drugs he is being given. The treatment in HDU is fantastic, the staff are attentive and caring as well as reassuring to us all. I must admit that seeing him laying there so helpless and not being able to talk to him is so hard when he is usually a live wire and always on the go. They can't guarantee the outcome but things are definitely a little better tonite so your prayers must be working ...... thank you xxxx
