  Actually PaulB, I must disagree with you as experience has shown that some will get just as upset by others disagreeing with their politics as they will be defensive of their gods.
  As an Atheist I can assure you we get just as annoyed by the constant assumption by god worshippers that our views cannot matter as we "don't believe in anything". I for one believe in lots of things, true democracy, the inherent beauty of nature, the power of humanity to create the truly spectacular and the sheer wonder of contemplating an infinite universe among them. A repeated annoyance is the god followers who will patronisingly tell you that their god will sort me out when I am dead, this is just as trite and insulting as it would be if I was to repeatedly tell them that their views did not matter because Bilbo Baggins would judge them when they died.
