What has happened to all the members of this group who no longer bother to post?
Are they still visiting to read the comments or have they now wandered off?
Is it because we have so little official local information? (I now get most of mine from FB)
With so many interesting people that used to be active participants of this group we now only have about ten who bother to comment and most of those comments are about what the Government and the Opposition are doing or not doing depending on their political leanings.
I no longer bother to comment as often the whole atmosphere on here has changed within the last month or so, it no longer seems as friendly, more personal also a lot more negative to any difference of opinion. As a group we seem no longer agree to disagree but need to have the last word.
The change can not simply be because of the virus when surely many members were stuck at home and had more time to comment on here.

Jan
This, like you say is not the only outlay there are so many other areas people use .
Without doubt Dover forum has its uses and I post less and some wanted other such items and I have always held the personal opinion that politics should have stayed on one page .
But it remains another source of communication and it's helpful on breaking stories to keep people informed

I think the virus has sent everyone slightly mad Jan! + the Forum, like most 'clubs' waxes and wanes for no predictable reason.
Locally, as with the rest of the country, very little has been 'happening' for the last six (?) months and what little which has happened is less and less reported in the local papers (the EKM does not even bother giving address of correspondents on the letters page, printing a common page across Kent).
Personally, since I'm 'chugging around the ditches of England' for a while, I'm more likely to get incensed over plastic bags clogging up my propeller than bottles of urine in the hedges of the A2, and spend my time online ranting at the CRT rather than DDC or KCC.
Give things time. All this will pass.
This time next year everyone and his dog will be howling to the moon about parking, bus services, dog poo, litter, the DHB etc.
'New' normal service will be resumed.

I think this is a common theme for many forums, Jan. I am a member of a fair few, for example the Dover Athletic forum, and many end up being a handful of people talking - either in their primary guise or one of their pseudonyms. It seems to me that people just have the same discussions on FB and Twitter etc.
Personally, I've really enjoyed the back and forth on here and tend to agree with Bob, it comes alive and dies down in inexplicable cycles.

Prefer this forum to the likes of FB. Those places are toxic, and found the things posted here to be a broad church, with (of course) a couple of nutters :)

I think most comments on here are from people with axes to grind or politically motivated with little real bearing on local activities. Some are simply posted by people wanting to pass some time away. Boredom? We are all bored these days but I try to fill my days with positive thoughts and avoid negative reviews unless obviously genuine.

I'm to busy to be bored
But I try not to over post
And I do use the politics page as that is the wish of the posters some time ago
I do post on other forums like neil
It is fine to post but often I find people may get very angry or personal if we hold different views
