Our Castle

but like the Harbour and Port ... I do not feel it is part of the Town anymore............

many people have tried to get english heritage to link it with the town and have come up against a brick wall. - 24 September 2011 16:32127972The Town of Dover has a problem with anyone acknowledging it's existence or its importance to the people who actually live in the Town.....we love it....but very few others in POWER do....
Someone I know was asked on the seafront by a visitor...do you live in DOVER?

The Castle was more affiliated when Rate Payers in the area.....remember that

- 26 September 2011 12:14128249Brilliant pix guys, I love the Castle and the Seafront, my heart still skips a beat when I approach Dover and see both of them staring back at me. I truly feel that the Castle is very much part of our town, it stands above us like a protecting angel.
I never fail but to get a negative respose from people when they ask me where I live, as soon as I say Dover they look horrified and usually reply with a sympathetic Oh!

Dover is definately, not desirable, or the right place to live....
I wonder how many of the Dover Harbour Board or District Council bodes actually live in Dover...so they can see and deal with the havoc they have wrecked.

They were a battery of three searchlights that were built (I think) in the late 30s. They were designed to illuminate enemy shipping approaching the eastern entrance of the harbour. One of them has sadly been destroyed by a cliff fall.
