Maybe someone at Highways has at last developed some common sense, be even better if the lorries were forced to use the inner lane at all the time if going to the port.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Everyone on the news etc goes on about Operation Brock.. yet when you ask them about Dover TAP and how it effects Aycliffe they do not have clue what Dover TAP is...

Gary, they think it’s called Stack. When I correct people and mention TAP they stare blankly.

From Google............"Dover TAP (Traffic Assessment Project)
Dover TAP is a separate scheme to Operation Stack. It is used to manage traffic using the Port of Dover and to improve air quality and reduce congestion in the town. Dover TAP is managed by Highways England."
Surely they mean mismanaged, when the town can get gridlocked when the Port is at a standstill.

As I understand the protocol for implementing TAP, I believe it requires approval from both Kent Police and Highways England, whereas it ought to be put in place whenever DHB decide it’s necessary.

And of course it applies only to the A20.

I do not care who implements is. At Aycliffe all we have ever asked for is that the start of TAP is moved back from a residential area.. They objected to lorry park because it is too close to residential areas.. Does that not apply to Aycliffe and TAP.....A20 a glorified overspill for DHB..

My point, Gary, is that it takes several hours for implementation to take place after traffic conditions require it. I get your point about the positioning of the lights though. No joined-up thinking there!
