There is nothing...absolutely nothing in place to stop them.....

It is the guys pocketing all the money who must be laughing....

However, just a thought.......as a Christian country........preparing for the Festival of Christmas..

This is a celebration of a middle Eastern couple looking for sanctuary, food and shelter whilst preparing to give birth......hasn't changed much then.....

I posted this on Dover Forum some while ago alexiatrade and your post prompted me to give it another airing……..for what it’s worth:

Their home on Christmas Eve's past had been a marvellous sight,
But it was nothing like their memories on this bitter cold night,
He held her so close, wrapped in a blanket grubby and torn,
Comforting her, protecting her, trying to keep warm.

For thousands of miles he'd not given up hope,
Carrying their belongings, tied up with a rope,
They'd arrived in this place, to escape a dire plight,
And from a dark doorway in Europe they saw the bright lights.

There was singing and dancing and party fun too,
It was happy families for others but not for these two,
They had nowhere to stay and nowhere to go,
Just a cold concrete doorstep and it had started to snow.

They had been moved on so harshly wherever they went,
Only the lucky one's were fed and given a tent,
But they were tired, worn out and homeless, a husband and wife........
Who were found huddled together next morning.....both drained of life.

Some excited children were startled by a sound as they passed by,
Stopped, discovered the couple and then heard a faint cry,
Of a new life cradled in the midst of those that were lost......
They'd secured a future for their newborn, but at what cost?

Whatever opinions we hold, the world needs to act,
This may be just a rhyme, but it could also be fact,
At this time of year we should be joyful and glad,
Although for millions displaced, their 'life' is just sad.
