Keep your eyes peeled early this coming Monday, 19th March, as LOCOG (London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games) will be announcing the streets that the Olympic Flame will travel.
Our days will be Wednesday 18th July for Dover while Deal and Sandwich will feature on Thursday 19th July.
More details will be announced by LOCOG and the Torch Relay sponsors Coca Cola, Lloyds TSB and Samsung as the day gets nearer.
For those with the Olympic appetite the Opening Ceremony is on 27th July with the closure on 12th August. Then we have the Paralympics opening 29th August until 9th September.
For those without the Olympic appetite, the BBC will be screening the games.
For anyone with tickets - there is help on the London 2012 website for journey planning.

Rummaging through the chest of drawers the other day I came across a tee-shirt with a Pepsi cola logo emblazoned on the front. It's quite a big logo and I'm really, really worried now. It's likely to be a hot day when the torch is proudly held high to signify the fantastic event soon to unfold which will unite the world and generate world peace and I'm worried that should I wear this tee-shirt when the torch event is taking place in Dover I might be arrested under laws which forbid what is known as ambush marketing.
It's awful, truly awful and I don't know whether or not to burn my tee-shirt in order to be 100% sure that I'm not caught out.
Advice needed quickly.

You are only allowed to burn your T shirt Philip , if you can satisfy the relevent authorities that your carbon emisions are within acceptable limits and you can produce the appropriate waste disposal cirtificate and risk assesment

Don't forget also that you are not allowed to use the word O******s to promote any product, service or event around the time of the O******s without the permission of LOCOG, and spending a small fortune for the privilige - or you will be arrested and dragged off by the thought police
In some places you will be charged for watching events like cycling or sailing from a public place, or even prevented a free view by the erection of screens apparently.

I'm wondering if there'll be a charge to enter the Market Square when the big screen is showing Olympic events

Let there be neither Shally nor Shilly with regard to the OL***ICS.
Oxygen will be at a premium during the games. Over and above the necessary charge against the public use of a gas who's name itself utilises so many of the same letters as OL***ICS. There will be the compulsory usage of scuba equipment by residents and visitors to London for the duration. In a Mass-scubation exercise that will only cost local rate-payers 11p per week for the foreseeable future. All those found not participating will be 'encouraged' not to exhale.
Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

This is the page with the map, not that obvious where to find it from Nigel's link -

Having a Groundhog Day moment, does anyone recognise where the cliffs are in this picture?

Have I missed something regarding the torch carriers?
I thought they were all supposed to be from within DDC boundaries for our bit of the run but some are from completely different areas, one even from Belgium.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

You're right Jan, maybe enough people from DDC area didn't apply or weren't the right mix, out of 15 torch bearers only 5 are from the district, the rest include runners from as far away as Brighton, Bracknell and Bremen!
And with the Dover leg being promoted with pictures of Deal, Sandwich and what I suspect are Sussex cliffs it all seems a bit of a letdown.

I'm sorry to sound nit-picking and I don't know who drew the map, but why is Cannon Street called "Gannon Street" ?
Well done to Dover though for getting the torch to come here - thank you Big-Screen.
Look forward to the fire-works. Should be a great evening at the Yacht Club.

What's more they seem to have demolished the breakwater and created a 'point of interest' a couple of miles out in the channel - have they leaked a cunning DHB plan?

Some good press releases there on our front page regarding the White Cliffs Country 2012 Tourism campaign and the Olympic Torch Relay here in Dover District. It was a very interesting and informative meeting yesterday morning at Sandwich Guildhall. Both Nigel Collar and Jon Iveson gave excellent presentations with a very thorough question and answer session from the floor. Our Mayor Ronnie Philpott made some very positive comments which were well received.
Sorry you couldn't make it Sue, hope you're feeling better real soon

Ray, I believe the route into the Harbour may well be where it boards a sailing ship and sails out into the harbour & symbolically touches land on the other side of Prince of Wales pier.
