08:0478403We saw Obama on television last night as he came out to meet the worlds media. Gone is the beaming smile and the upbeat persona, replaced now with a crumpled demeanour, a shadow of his former self. Defeated deflated and disenfranchised. Other presidents have come back from a drubbing before and went on to survive and rally but I somehow doubt if Obama can manage it. When the popularity bubble bursts there is nothing left. And he rode along on a ticket of popularity.
However what is even more disturbing than Obama's sudden fall, is the equally sudden meteoric rise of these new right wing movements sweeping America...the GOPs and the Tea Party movements are stunningly alarming, their self belief and righteousness makes one baulk at what they might be capable of. They believe or appear to believe that God has given them the right to rule to world. Frightening.
We have seen the US lurch to the right before but this is one heck of a lurch to the right this time, and is more than a tad scary for the rest of mankind.

09:0778408"They appear to believe that God has given them the right to rule the world". Exactly as I said about on here a few month`s ago. These new Christian movement`s. Lot`s of money involved here.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

10:1778414What is most scary is how so many of the leading lights in the Tea Party and NeoCon elements of the GOP are fundamentally flawed characters, who cannot string a coherent argument together, lack consistency, clarity of thought and principal and seem to rely on the "God" justification far to often.
Their selective use of the bible to justify their utterances and behaviour, whether the use is justified or even in context makes them so like the fundamentalist Immams it does not bode well for the future safety and security of all of us.

14:1378435BarryW,
Surely the minimum criterion for a US President is are they the sort of person who you would not mind having on your 'pub quiz' team?
With Palin I think I'd play one man (whoops! person) short!

17:3078452I must admit that I've been a bit suspicious of Theresa May since she started dressing like a character in Thunderbirds.
I suppose that the difference is that Theresa may, but one suspects Palin definitely would, especially after a couple of whatever they drink in Alaska!
