In fact, in the opinion polls, all those who say they would not vote any party, are considered as having given their preference to one of the three mainstream parties.
Labour's real support in an opinion poll is much, much lower than 34%: it's about 14%.
The truth is, that at parliamentary by-elections the majority don't vote anymore.
So at, say, a 40% turnout, even if Labour got 40% of the votes, in reality they received the vote of 16% of the voting constituency.
Labour is a minority party like all other political parties. The vast majority of people do not support Labour.
