    Keith A backbencher expressed his view - what can be denied, that he did not say what he said, well he did say it so what?

    He is an unknown backbencer expressing a view.

    Oh, of course, I forgot, you are used to Labour politics with all that central control that prevents backbenchers expressing a view that is not endorsed by the leadership (big scandal if anyone go off-message) - well the Tories are different, the party of the individual measn that the backbencher can say this whether the leadership agree ot not.

    Personally I want an overall Conservative majority after the next election in 5 years so would prefer not to have an electoral pact.

    But, if such a pact were necessary, due to the coalition taking the blame for the tough decisions made to correct Labour's mess, then so be it. It is vital that electorate are not fooled into putting back into power the incompetents to screw thing up again. It will take 10 years plus to correct Labour's many failings and they do not deserve ever to get power again.
