Considering your intense dislike of the gruaniad you quote their articles extensively Bob. Interesting that staff from outside the EEA have to take an English language test even though many from the Commonwealth will speak it better than someone from Lithuania for example.
The figures don't show nationalities of GP's but my understanding is that a large number of them are from India and near retiring age. India has a booming economy and growing middle class must mean that fewer qualified medics will be lured here.
