    The 1991 photograph of the demolition of the Packet Yard to which Scotchie (son of Mr Wells) refers in post #34 is on page 96 of the superlative "Dover Tribute in photographs to Budge Adams" by Bob Hollingsbee and Derek Leach.

    Shame to lose wonderful names like the Packet Yard, redolent of a colourful past. Another I dimly remember was the "Dunkirk Crossing" which seemed to apply to the whole area of the Western Docks in the vicinity of the Dover-Dunkirk train ferry dock.

    Further to the Canterbury Trust link re the Wellington Dock, here is another giving details of the listed buildings:

    "Wellington Dock and Associated Structures, Including Crane Situated on Esplanade Quay, Dover"
