i wondered what was happening in the former chinese restaurant when i went past the other day.
i don't see the new steak grill opening very soon though, little seems to be happening there.
they are still doing the preparation for the painting outside.
Shame about Blades......Excellent Hairdressers, who have survived bleak surroundings...

That's probably why they're moving premises.

I love Indian so will try it out.
Surprised the Champian closed, but maybe that's because the Moon-Flower - almost opposite, is so good: on food, service and ambience and it's almost always full up.

Logical to put an Indian there. After all between the Curry Garden and Taste of India there's over 100 yards of road without one!

Roger, the owner decided looking after his mother was more important than his business.

O.K. well I'm sorry about the family illness; surprised that if it was a good viable business, they couldn't find someone to run it until his Mother was better.
Too late now anyway, so I wish his Mother well.

the champion was my local chinese in my younger days
although this case is understandable why the chinese closed, there does seem to be a lot of chinese places how do they all survive?

They survive by ripping us off. I can assure you that a standard size chicken chow mein say at £4 costs no more than 25p to make for what's in it and that will go for most of the dishes.

What about wages, power and heating, packaging, and the all important insurance that all has to be covered before you can make a profit, plus I forgot wastage it all adds up.

It might add up but if you sell say for instance 1000 chow meins a week at £3.75 that's £3750 profit just on them. I know the Red House opposite the police station does from Friday to Sunday does a minimum of 500 take away delivery and collections. I know there are overheads, gas, electric and wages for staff and drivers but there is a hell of a profit in Chinese food and take aways in general. I guess if there wasn't they wouldn't keep opening up.
Red House is the best Chinese Take away that's for sure in my opinion.

KMFM have been advertising this restaurant for the last month.
Also the new Indian where the Champion was is an absolute must, been there twice since opening and i must say it's up there with the best Indian food i have ever had in this town.

Yes Howard noticed that this morning on my way round, looks as though they are cracking on with the inside so i'm sure it will not be long before its open.
