An exciting new lottery is being launched in the new year - with local good causes the big winners. With good causes receiving 60p in the £1, local charities and community groups in the Dover District are invited to get involved and find out how the lottery can raise funds for them.

Bearing in mind that every time I try to buy something from a supermarket kiosk or convenience store the person in front of me is buying a lottery ticket and/or a scratch card I doubt there is enough spare cash left for this to become a success.

Having had a think about this I wonder how many will go for it when there is no mention of what one might win. They will need a lot of players to generate a decent prize with only 20p in the £1 going towards it.
I will continue to support my favourite local charities direct, Dover Athletic's Striker draw every week being one of them, so I will not bother with this proposed new one.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

I see it being an epic flop, costing thousands of pounds leafleting every household in the district, thousands more in advertising and administration all for what? So DDC can abdicate more of its responsibilities while gaining a few lucky fans!

I think it's a terrible idea, what do they call good causes ?
