21:1471910 Another gem out of my father`s box here, and quite possibly never seen before, as of course wartime photography was restricted, and good quality film hard to get hold of. I`m assuming it could be Dover, but we may never know.

21:2071913Am I right in thinking that some of the photos in this book are also in other books, I am finding alot of the Books on Dover run along the same lines as the ones before it.
This is just apoint and should only mean that.

22:0571931Yes Vic, quite a few 'stock' photos and as Colin said cameras were banned so wartime images are hard to come by
Been nice knowing you :)

22:0971932Colin - that could well be somewhere around Woolcomber Street as there were many cottages round there that we obliterated
Been nice knowing you :)

21:5772057Yes, Howard!
Bob thinks that Colin's picture looks like a picture of York Street damage, and the houses appear to be 'flint ones'.

19:5072343 Thank you Vic, but not enough picture`s left now. This one of my father`s, may have been taken in the late 30s in preparation for a possible war, or it could`ve been taken in 1940 when he was on a gunnery course, for which I have his competance certificate, though I`m unsure if photography of this sort would have been possible at the time. Though wartime photography was strictly(?) prohibited, I have found over the years, a number of railway photograph`s taken by well known photographer`s in various books. Maybe it was just on or near strategic location`s that it was more restricted? Anyway, all on here can view a picture never shown in public before. are the building`s in the background recognisable as local and does this vessel look Royal or Merchant navy?

20:1372348did anyone go to the book signing today?
i went past and saw two people dressed in second world war uniforms, my immediate reaction was that it was the governemnt were dropping heavy hints about the forthcoming austerity.
i thought to myself it will be spam, powdered eggs and no bananas for the duration.
it transpired it was just the co author drawing attention to the signing.

20:5972352I purchased the book this morning (not at the signing) and although not reading it in detail at present see a great deal of reference to Norman Sutton...Is this any relation to Terry !!!
Probably need to "delete" this entry as the book is a present to my dear Dovorian wife.
Howard... Was the two dressed in Second World Uniform Derek and Terry...Who was Mr Mannering and who was Sgt Wilson????
