A few months old but still relevant. The idea that the UK economy can make up such numbers overnight is ludicrous.

Let's face it, Brexit has reduced us all to sucking on used teabags and chewing dog biscuits. But while proud Brits will never publicly admit it, our coded anxiety emerges through our fingertips:
VM: 'Yes the army are filling rolls around the world.'
PW: 'Will Universal Credit clams rise excessively?'
I say: do not worry. Things will get batter.

Rolls , clams & batter could help resolve dietary deficiencies!

Using the army would work if we had enough troops to go around!
Approx 85000 regular Army in April 2021, take off all the ones abroad and on national defence and you are left with about 8!
I'm all for using the railways for long-haul freight, and then local deliveries from those depots.

Local deliveries still need drivers. And freight railheads are few and far between nowadays.

And possibly there's a lack of appropriate rolling stock at the moment.

I note that IKEA claim that they have a shortfall of 10% stock due to lack of lorry drivers and Brexit whereas in Germany they also have a 10% lack of stock solely due to lack of lorry drivers.

Maybe the answer is most countries are short of skilled people and next week the newspapers will be flying off the shelves as we suddenly realise were short of nurses, doctors, plumbers, builders etc not forgetting pig 'processors' which was last week's panic.
Bottom line is since I can remember the world has been muddling through with well sub optimum efficiency since most people are pretty bloody useless.
Such a shame that Adolf made eugenics a non topic for conversation and the lefty Fabian's dropped it like a hot brick? I really hope that kid on ITV Sixteen:Class of 21 makes it as a Tattoo 'artist' not having even done Art GCSE.
She's got to do better than some of the stuff I've seen on the illustrated land whales recently.
Was reading w/e FT about Germany and the pandemic. Forget giving kiddies laptops to school at home - their broadband provision is one of worst in Europe!
Still on the Llangollen at 4mph max and trying to stay calm. Apparently we only get C.4000 weeks on the planet.
What did YOU do over the past seven days?

Two things really. I've
a) not fallen off the Chirk viaduct and
b) rubbed my hands together at the thought of all these job opportunities for UK jobseekers.
