- 27 July 2010 09:2262445I was lucky enough to see a Hummingbird Hawkmoth up at High Meadow yesterday but unfortunately I didn't have my camera on me - always the way. It was the first one I've seen for four years. The Meadow is teeming with butterflies at the moment, well worth a look if that's your bag.

- 27 July 2010 09:4262453Much of the prevalence wild plants are due to the Konik ponies Vic. They have been eating the grass that would, if left unchecked, swamp the wild plants. The wonderful chalk-land plants have therefore been able to come to the fore, hence the amazing diversity of butterflies and other insects.
I must have seen about a dozen butterfly species yesterday up there and lots of Small Blues, always a welcome sight.
