Very interesting pictures again Ken, really great to see them. Yes if you look at the one of Market Sq for example, it does have a bustle, a touch of real life that isnt there now. Look at all the buses coaches clearly tooing and froing bringing people in to the lower end of town. Likewise with Biggin Street. You can see the tram tracks and the shop frontpages are rather affluent looking.
I wonder if pedestrianising the area seawards of that Biggin St corner on show there, has wrung some of the life out of the town. There is a rather dead feel to everything nowadays the closer you get to the sea. Shops , restaurants and so on have trouble surviving at this end.

The trouble with Market Square area, if you do not want an estate agent, bank or DDC office there is nothing to draw you to that part of town. I only go that far when I have to go to the council office.
