07:2977182This item on ITN last night gave us all a stark reminder of the changing face of our society. Vast swathes of central England have become entirely foreign as is reflected in this latest news which shows that Mohammed is now the most popular name of all amongst both new borns and across the board generally. There are now more Mohammeds than Johns, Jacks, or Jimmies here in the UK.
In my day everyone was called John and James, to be called Paul was something of a revolution in social change. But we have come a far cry since then. However this new name situation is an indication of just how beleageured some of our traditional citizens feel in their motherland and why the immigration problem is such a deeply felt issue. When immigrants come, they marry, have babies like ye do...and the babies are it seems all mostly called Mohammed. The news team visited one restaurant and there were 11 guys called Mohammed.
On the other hand the restaurant was very popular and we all enjoy eating out in exotic restaurants...and the staff of course are all immigrnats. Without the immigrants no restaurants, and a lot of everyday everything else. Therein lies the dilemna.
By the way...Oliver comes second in the table of most popular names and Jack third.

08:0377188It just goes to show how the face (literaly) of the UK is changing. What the programme said was Mohammed and its variants, I hope they used the same criteria for John and all other names and the survey was not trying to make a racist point.
I wonder what the top girls name is now.

09:4077198Jan, the difference between Mohammed(PBUH) and John is that the former has variants whereas the latter merely has miss-spellings by their parents.

11:3377220I was thinking of the foreign variants of John, like Johann or Juan, if not it is a flawed survey.

14:3577241Right`s or wrongs on the nuclear power thread, a greater threat to our future generation`s is the rapidly growing immigrant population. Let`s leave racialism and immigrant`s covering essential services out of this. Interesting though, I`m getting to see how easy it was for the nazi`s to rise up during the 1920s and 30s. Could Germany ever rise up again in view of the fact that they`re also experiencing all this immigration and facing the possibility of losing their national identity?
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

15:1577250i think that european governments are now realising this colin.
the penny finally dropped when they started to look at far right parties getting larger and larger shares of the votes.
i believe an anti immigration party holds the balance of power in sweden.

15:5177258A good point well made Colin - it is in these nooks and crannies that dissatisfaction breeds.

15:5977265I fully agree with you Paul (post 1), without immigration, all Dover's bus-services would collapse. In fact all the bus drivers - ladies and men - are immigrants. (of-course they're not!), and in London, no-one could drive a bus until the 70's as one can see when looking ot pictures of London buses from the 30's. It is so, without immigration, no restaurants. Which is why I go accasionally to the Dovorian and Amina's, or Dicken's corner.

17:2377273the thing is that parents invent names or select one from some name they have heard about or seen it in a book.
celebrity names like kylie and jordan get a high take up rate.
muslims just stick to names associated with their faith, mohammed being a very popular cove gets the vote.

17:4777278At the end of the day i understand the feelings, but in a way we are all immigrants.
And the problem we have is, where do you stop?
Iv heard racist cries of send em out in a boat and sink it
send them all home.
of course that would mean Dover forum run by a non english person would go down lol
I can always spot the racist when they start with the words
I'm not a racist but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,(usually then carry on with lots of racist views)
It's a problem that need's to be dealt with, but whether or not mahamid has children is that couples choice.
ALL POSTS ARE MY OWN PERSONAL VIEWS

Rubbish. At some point supply and demand (wages and labour) would have met.
The fact that a lot of immigrant labour has taken over potential work from the CBAs (can't be arssed) does NOT mean that the job would not be done.

18:3177287alex was being facetious bob.
the reason immigrants have taken over hospitality jobs is purely over wages, many sleep rough or in a part of their work premises because they cannot afford proper accommodation.

Absolutely Howard.
I've often tripped over both my doctor and dentist huddled together in a shop doorway, often whilst waving to my neighbours who are both scientists at Pfizer and who hail from abroad.
I should have added that not only are the locals far too lazy to do many jobs they are also far too thick and ill educated to do many others.

19:1777308funnily enough i have never considered doctors or dentists to be in the hospitality industry.
i have always found that the "professionals" at our local hospitals that continually ram things up me(down me too) extremely inhospitable.
much the same applies to my dentist.

19:3177311Howard. Whoops. I thought you said 'hospital industry'. Mea culpa.
Bern. Out of bed the wrong side? In my dreams! Half term - so an experiment to see how long I could go without sleep before someone noticed I was typing garbage. I think hanging on until Friday was good.
