- will look forward to seeing what it actualy means paul.

t.v. just gives a catchy headline and put no flesh on the bones.

i seem to remember a lady being employed at d.d.c. to facilitate shared services.

- I hope that Reg and paulw will comment further as the mercury article gives a different view.

they are ap;pointing ANOTHER high paid officer to over see the merger?
no mention of slimming dowen officers
is there a reason why the 2 chief executives earning over £150,000 could not do this job?
are we to see one or both of these to disappear in this merged services
or are we just yet another high paid officer to oversee something that the present two could do between them

- The Shared services officer is not employed by Dover but run between three councils.

I'll leave you to see the press release when posted.

- I know I can be a bit thick at times Paul but if the Shared Services Officer is run by three councils surely those councils split the cost three ways, therfore he/she is partly employed by Dover as they are one of the councils. - -----------------------------------------------------------------------
I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

- the way i see it is that there is an extra employee whose dosh is spread over 3 local authorities, but their remit is to cut employees over the 3 by merging operations.

with the cuts in funding, councils have little choice.

- point taken keith, that is the current situation, i hope that some of the high earners go and that the workers at the coal face do not take the brunt.

they must have dispensed with our local street cleaner already, the priory area is awash with litter and dog toffee.

hope that is not the case, he is highly diligent and an interesting conversationist.
