19:3968653Really sorry Colin, I meant to have a chat but as you may have seen I was a bit harrassed. Nothing went to plan today, people didn't stand where they should have. Oh well, here's to the next time.

06:4268735I was due to go, got showered and dressed - suited and booted, then went to the back to get Jean's car out and the battery was flat. As she had an appointmnet I came back in, put some old clothes on, then back up the garden and used my jump-leads to get her car started, by the time that was all done, it was half past ten, so too late.
I enjoy those services, very worthy.

06:5068738Oddly enough Roger after we'd cleared up I went to start the car and had the same problem. Luckily I was using my 12v amplifier so I used that battery.
I had several complaints at the end by the way regarding the order of wreath laying, some people get very uptight about it. I'm glad that I just read it out and didn't devise it!

07:0568740Glad your battery problem was esily resolved Terry.
There is a protocol and an order of wreath laying, I'm not sure who lays down the order though.
Have a good Saturday.

18:4368790I attended the service and wreath laying on the seafront but couldn't make the town hall. I met up with a few old shipmates and had a good natter. I also met the delightful Collette and had a good chat, she also introduced me to Mike the video maker. I was a bit disappointed that there were not more seamen and ex.seamen there, we were outnumbered by dignitaries and standard bearers. I took a load of photos.
Colin, didn't you notice a grey haired old geezer there with a crutch snapping away furiously. I don't know what you look like so I couldn't say "hello".

19:2668796Alec ,
There were more at The Town Hall .People who you used to work with but they did not get down to the Sea Front .It was done in two parts A SERVICE AT THE tOWN hALL THEN ANOTHER SHORTER DO AT THE sEA fRONT .
Alec,
There were more people at the Town Hall ,not everyone went down to the Sea Front. Some of your mates did not go to the Sea Front . I stayed at the Town Hall to look after people but most people went when the bus departed for the Sea Front .
They do the service in two parts now .I was the only member of the chain gang who did not attend the wreath laying ceremony.

21:5768803Thanks for that Sue, I couldn't make the Town hall (long story). I did ask at the seafront where you were. Plenty of hats on show.
Terry, thanks for the link.
