Looks like we need to do some litter picking as well as statue scrubbing. Also a chap from the Norwegian Embassy will be laying a wreath on the Norwegian Navy Memorial Garden, sadly it's not looking it's best.

couldn't get to the town hall, brian has sent in some photos that i will upload later, anyway it was a beautiful day on the seafront for the laying of the wreaths.

the dignitaries arrived by coach from the town hall, bernard butcher former district chairman pictured here
mick smith husband and escort of anne smith when she was mayor last year.
took this before anyone arrived the stewards did an excellent job politely but firmly in keeping everything in order.

Always a great sight to see the Standards assembled like that and once again we were lucky with the weather. I don't understand why the parade doesn't attract a bigger crowd though, given the location.

there was a reasonable turnout paul but many people told me they knew nothing of it on the way back, not sure if it was mentioned in the local press but terry started this thread giving plenty of notice.

There's always a "reasonable turnout" Howard, but given Dover's maritime heritage one would hope for something more perhaps?

fascinating read peter, this etiquette lark is a minefield for the unwary. our sue picks me up on the correct way of doing things.
i can never get it totally right though, i still use the wrong fork for the soup course.

Wasnt able to get to it this year so very good to see the pictures above there Howard..
managed to get down later and took the following to show the wreaths. A good number of wreaths too..good to see.
