You really do have some strange misconceptions Alexander -

A - there is only one 'side' at the meeting and that is the side of the heritage. It will be a civil, open and constructive meeting so that like-minded people can share their views and understand what is currently being done by WHPS. A meeting like this was suggested by Lara, so I thought I would kill two birds with one stone and turn possible members evening into a public evening.

B - as hard as you may find it to believe, just like English Heritage, WHPS isn't perfect and can't think of everything. If someone suggests an avenue to pursue, if sensible, worthwhile and works with the aims of the charity then it will be taken into consideration by the committee. Take for example the girls doing their Grand Shaft climb to raise funds for us earlier in the year. Certainly not cliquey or secretive, but when you are dealing with a Scheduled Ancient Monument is a very slow process with lots of red-tape so as much as you want to rush on and do things, you just have to go with the flow....
