  It is a great shame about Manston. But it has been stuck in a financial limbo a long long time. I think I will probably have mentioned the next bit before...but about 25 or 30 years ago when I was making investments it was sent to me as a business opportunity. I thought to myself...this is good!... a new airport in Kent awaiting expansion. I think it was under previous ownership then and the seeds were there...it cant miss.. thought I. The Capital even then was crying out for a third airport. For the life of me at the moment I cant remember the people that owned it then who were doing the expansion, or planning to do the expansion.
  
  For one reason or another I let that opportunity go by...and when I look back, it was obviously a good move. As the great expansion plans and dreams never happened. There were brief flurries of promise..which made the news in London...but essentially nothing ever happened to the airport.
  
  Its still in the same position to this very day. No movement at all in 30 years, someone announces a new destination once in a blue moon and thats about it, but clearly the appetite isnt there.
  
  A great shame in my book but at a guess you can see the reason why there was no expansion, the people who live there dont want it. You could say that its another victory for NIMBYism.
