a planning notice states that the intention is to build housing on the above site, we can only hope something does happen.
to my knowledge it has been derelict for nearly 9 years, i suspect a lot longer than that.
there was talk of a fictional priory play area being laid out there, we were then told that the ground was contaminated so that was a non starter.
will this be the beginning of the end for this eyesore?

moving on the thread by nearly 3 years i was greeted by this sight this morning, all rubbish and vegetation removed.
i have not seen a recent planning application go in so maybe the landowners have been told to tidy things up?

well the question is, is it still contaminated after so many years? I know it depends with what it was contaminated before. But worth throwing in that question ?

I understand that piece of land has extant planning permission, but not sure when it will run out, but will try to find out.
There is a piece of land in front of that (Folkestone Road side) that is owned by J.C. Decaux (by the side of the old Boston G.H.)and it was that that I inquired about creating a small play area there, but it was deemed too small and too close to neighbouring properties.

i believe the application was all in order and passed, possibly the economic conditions stopped them building.
with house prices rising and a 5 minute walk to the station for any buyers maybe the developers will go ahead?

Yes Heike, too small; the land behind the J.C. Decaux advertising board (mentioned in my previous posting) is owned by them and it measures something like 22 m x 15 m.
There has to be a certain distance from the nearest properties and it was too close, so it never got off the ground.

i think the plan is to build the luxury penthouses around the central communal jacuzzi.

The only application I can find on line, is a temporary site for Southern Water Drainage, and that is dated 1997, I know there was plans passed to build houses there, but they must have expired, I spoke to one of the workman , and asked if at last they were going to build, but he said they were only clearing rubbish and vegetation, perhaps the boards are there to prevent more rubbish being dumped
