There's been a lot of consultation on this over the last two years, including describing the new road access that should solve those problems.
As the report says, 67 documents for cllrs to struggle through, I hope they do that properly rather than skip them and listen to a few vocal nimbys who haven't looked at the detail either.
It would be a great economic boost to the district.

Actually the application was only validated last Wednesday, there was s 3 week hiatus between submission and validation, as is normal with an application of this complexity. Last year I helped fight their corner with a facepest campaign which resulted in approval of an application to extend their operating hours slightly and I shall do so with this one too. 204 comments in favour now and only 4 against. If you have 5 minutes, do please go to the link in post #3 and make a positive comment. Key issues as I see it are: 1. up to 70 FTE jobs, 2. the circuit's importance to motorsport heritage, 3. the improvements to the access will end the traffic chaos on the A2 before and after meetings 4. it's Dover district's #3 tourist attraction and must be kept viable for the sake of the rural economy, and 5. the application promises so much extra for the wider community.

Was wondering how this was going and there are well 500 comments on the application with a scathing rejection from Denton with Wootton Parish Council.

Back in 1992 TAG Mclaren suffered from nimbyism at Lydden. They would have brought jobs to the area. Wasn't to be though.

I've been to a couple of public meetings about this - some of the biggest complainers were people who have moved to the area after it opened. They were against it from the start, even though the benefits of the noise reduction measures were explained several times.
No nimbyism at Lydden this time round! -
"The Parish Council considered this application and unanimously support the development of Lydden Circuit. The circuit has been situated in the area since the 1940's it has been well used by local people it also brings a considerable number of visitors to the area which also generates revenue for local businesses.
It is envisaged that the proposed development will create much needed new jobs. It is hoped that the proposed new access this will reduce the amount of congestion on the A2 at the larger meetings.
The diversity of activities on offer will encourage a wider range of visitors and hopefully entice those visitors to explore the wider environment and attractions that Dover has to offer.
The Parish Council will closely monitor the traffic situation in relation to local roads and adherence to speed limits."

Ray's post reminds me of the stupid people who move to the so called quiet countryside then complain about the noise and mess from livestock and the tractors that block the lanes.
Let's hope that common sense prevails and this gets passed, it would be awful if a few selfish voices stopped something that would bring much needed jobs and money into the area.

Anyone know our MP's view on this or if he has previously raised an objection?

Post 14: see post 14 (spooky!) of the 'Lydden hill racing circuit' thread. The answer my friend is blowing in the wind.

Sounds like a very well run business to me with the owner not putting too much reliance on one event. Surprised to read that the planning application for their development plans has still not been finalised.
