As mentioned elsewhere (can't find it) there has been a huge collapse of the tidal harbour wall which is actually called Dolpin Jetty
Doesn't look like the weather did it, just succombed to years of erosion as it looks hollow !!

Yup, this Dolphin too has a blow-hole. It looks to be (part) filled with rock, I notice what may be an internal wall to the right through the hole.
A clear opportunity for some local engineer to shine.

Yes, that's more like it, better now that it's a little brighter. Not likely to be much of historical interest. Is it a war-time structure? (WWII)

There as been a jetty there of sorts from at least 1860s, but this is definately a later facing. Not sure if it serves much purpose these days through...

The question is will it be repaired? I doubt it to be honest.

I don't think it serves that much purpose these days and when (IF) Terminal 2 happens it will be infilled anyway !

This is from the 1950s - looks like it is being built to it's current form

As said before an expensive collapse, it will probably be left to it's own devices to add to the 'rustic charm' of the area, I cannot see anyone opening their purses in the near future which have tight drawstrings on them, I hope I'm wrong.

I would have thought DHB had a special fund for such events.

Oh dear! It looks like the situation is deteriorating. The top platform seems to have collapsed even further and the whole thing looks as if it might crumble any moment directly into the water.
Once again well done with the picture Scotchie. You're a star for sure. Can you remain there on watch to capture the moment of collapse !! should happen sometime in the next six months!!

If I was berthed nearby I would be a tad worried. If that does collapse will the depth be sufficient enough as to still be able to get my boat out?

Yes, gravity works.

Agreed PaulB, looks like it might crumble soon especially if we have a bout of the wet and windy.

Jeez! Looking at the structual movement in nine days, I'd estimate that it would probably fully collapse in to the harbour imminently
