Yesterday at crabble lost again and are now 4 points behind chelmsfordhaving played the same amount of games.
with just 5 games to go, the 5th place spot is looking bleak, and now in the hands of chelmsford having to drop points.
dover appears to have reached it's level, but the future of the club is probably at stake now.
As I'v stated before the chair of the board and the club itself have ambitions for football league status which is great, and it appears the chair tried to buy the club promotion, that appears to have backfired.
the problem will be at the end of the season if sadly dover dont get that 5th place spot, will the players stay? none are local, and of course most would want to play at a far higher level.
if players leave, how will they be replaced with gates falling and little money have to be a standard to at least hold on to present league status.
Although it's not all doom and gloom as there still is an outside chance of chelmsford getting nervous and slipping up
but dover footy needs to plan a long term solution in light of the worst senario.

With the inferior goal difference Keith it is really 5 points adrift and we are about to be taken over by Basingstoke as well. The Board as always have backed the manager to the hilt with the amount of signings he has been allowed to make, we are just not good enough, no passion no feel good factor, if by some miracle we did reach the play offs we would bottle it against Welling or Dartford we always do.
As for worrying the players will leave, most have them are gone already and they know it, can't see more than 4 being retained, I personally would go for a manager that knows the level of of football and Kent football and get some pride and passion into the team and club, there is none at the moment. I used a days leave yesterday and have a days leave booked for the Easter Monday game and miss out on double time, I must be bonkers!

It is hard to see that the players really want to win and then don't try or don't gel as a team. If it is that they have failed to gel there may be a slight chance that they can put that right as soon as all involved wish.
Effort is one thing that you say is missing Keith and there are only about eleven people that could fix that, the same with the team-smarts.

At the moment there are only 2 that have been offered contracts for next year so if they leave at the end of the season it is more likely to be the clubs choice than theirs!! Then it will be the managers choice of who he brings in under the budget he will be given. Yes there is likely to be major changes in players but with the contracts of those already here up at the end of the season it will under the clubs control.

paul; from your reply it look's like the club has accepted it won't make the 5th place spot.
today i was speaking to hard core dover supporters who travel to away games and at every home game.
they hold the view that the majority of players are only here for the season are th money and would go anyway.
the club itself probably is(hopefully)rebuilding as the club needs stability, but also the passion has gone, with just one or 2 players showing any kind of passion.

The club will not give up on the chance of making the play offs until it is impossable but yesterday again showed that the majority of the players out there just dont have the balls for the fight that is needed and if yesterday had been the end of the season im sure thats the last we would have seen of probably nine that were on the pitch. I think the manager needs the chance to start the season with his own choice of players. Yes he has brought some in during the season but you get limited availability during the season, totally differant from putting a squad together during pre season.

maybe they should concentrate on bringing young local players through, at least they would be committed to the club.
i think the supporters would be more enthusiastic too if it was a true dover football team.

We have an Academy Howard but not many if any Dover lads are in it, based at Faversham. Doubt there is enough talent available in the area to put half a team together for the standard of the Conference South.

very disappointing to read that martin surely there must be local talent being missed out on by the academy being so far away.

Well my old Dad (Bless Him) always said smile in defeat laugh in victory. Well after yesterday I had a job to smile as I walked down the slope from the ground. Three home games where we not only did not score we had very few shots on target, the club may not have given up but the players play like they have.
I can not make the next home game (not because I do not want to) as I am at a family 80th birthday event on Bank Holiday Monday but I wish them well and will be at the remainder of the games. Just maybe they can pick it up but it looks like the time to start thinking of 2012 13 season.
COYW please.
I must be mad, support Dover Athletic and West Ham and neither can win at home.

I feel more concerned for the club than I have in a long time. We are haemmorhaging support and the fear is that the key guy - chairman Jim Parmenter who bankrolls the club - will get fed up with the fickle, demanding mentality of some of our supporters and let the club find its natural level (a much lower one). Then we will be yearning for the misery of sixth in Conference South.
Having said that, the only people who can directly turn it around are the manager who recruits and selects players and chooses tactics, and of course the 11 out on the pitch. Until they get it together - or are shipped out and replaced by better and more committed players in the summer - the mood will continue to be downcast.

The problem of the Jolly Boys falling out with Jim has festered for too long, there is very little feel good factor around the ground and to be honest the end of the season cannot come quick enough. I would like to think that if we start well next season the problems can be put behind us but I would not bank on it

I am delighted there is a good well run club for us to support, I pay my entrance fee and am happy for the powers that be to run the club, that is not enough for some however

I have supported Dover since I was taken up there aged about 5 or 6 (60 years) and will continue to support them, but sadly some can only support the good times. The thing is a lot of the Jolly Boys are not old enough to remember Dover FC when it all but folded and think being 6th in the league and maybe not making the play offs as total failure. They also think paying £12 to get in gives them the divine right to slag off who ever they like, individual players, the Manager, the Directors and the Chairman while in turn the Chairman and Directors who put in Thousands should just sit back and take it and say nothing.
As I said in an earlier post I find it hard to smile after loosing three home games so badly, when I see players who can play good football fail to put in a shift but at the same time I will not turn on the club. J. P. may like every one else have some failings but he is a dam good Chairman who like his Directors have saved the club from going under a fact many forget.

Your right Harry and when there having a go at these people its as if they they think the Chairman etc are happy when things are not right! They dont put there time and money in for the fun of it!! When you get a situation like these last three games alot is learnt from it. Its an awkward time now with so few games left but some of the players have probably shown there true colours!!

Time, as I have said, for the team to be paraded around the town. A whole host of gulls would notice that single stone.
