19:0734897I agree with you, Howard, to some extent - the days of cottage hospitals have been numbered for quite some time. It would be a desperate shame if Deal Hospital were to close because it does so much for the local healthcare, it really is a focal point for all the local doctor's surgeries (of which mine is one).
Where we disagree, though, is the car park: I can never find a bloody car park space there - ever - and usually have to park on double yellows in Bowling Green Lane!

True friends stab you in the front.

19:2234901usually quiet when i go andy, i have to make regular visits to the audiologist.
the place is quietly efficient, extremely clean and the staff mostly friendly and helpful.
an ideal candidate for closure, just like dear old buckland.

22:0834911It will be a shame to see another cottage hospital go, agreed Howard that when it comes to cleanliness and courtesy they are the best, but the NHS say that they are too costly to run.

22:5134915victor is right about the admin side of the NHS, off of the top of my head the numbers employed by the aforesaid organisation runs to over a million.
i wonder what the breakdown is between frontline staff and form fillers?

23:2934920Dont get me going on this subject .I now how hard my daughter works we are not talking eight hour days .Her hours are very very long .Some of the problems we have in the NHS is the number of people who waste doctors time .You see countless small children not wrapped up against the cold and in the Summer not protected from the heat .More and more young girls getting pregant then going on to have abortions.
People not taking their Doctors advice.Popping pills at the drop of a hat .Its not all down to admin
I could go on but its late and I would not wish to offend .

13:0834934not really the point though susan, there have always been people filling doctors surgeries and hospital casualty units with bruised fingers and the like.
the issue is whether there are too many admin staff in relation to the frontline people.
surely you have proved the point with your comments about people needing medical attention due to their own neglect.

To be fair I think everyone is fighting for it, problem is is two camps have come into being and sadly until 1 site is decided on theres a real danger Dover will lose out.
But fight we must
