Alan yes these situations do waste a lot of time and of course it must be remembered.. a lot of money. Coastguards, Police, Air Sea Rescue, and of course our very own RNLI...and with the addition of one of those very large AirSea Rescue helicopters hovering for what seemed liked a couple of hours, presumably til the fuel ran out, when they abandoned the search.
So a big effort indeed.
Howard I remember the tale a few years back you might remember it too...when the rescue services went to Shakespeare Cliff following a suicide sighting they found the victim, but then they found another one at the base of the cliff as well while down there...so it turned into a job lot as it were. A two for the price of one deal !!
Forgive that last one there as I know its a serious business all round.
