I have attended two such forums over the last two Saturdays, Dover North Steve Manion Local Schemes Grant, Deal & Walmer Julie Rook and Kit Smith 'You decide' event, on behalf of Kent Miners Festival.
They are very well run and a good idea for local people to have their say in which projects they want to fund, it also has the affect of getting people to take part and to take an interest in their community. Couple of points against, in my opinion, voting age limit two young, 11 yrs, caused problems with voting (none or tactical voting). And people using handicapped and disabled children to grab the sympathy vote. These kids did not want to stand up in front of strangers and read prepared statements, two even said the were frightened.
