I have just read that KCC are withdrawing subsidies on many routes.Aycliffe and River evening and Sunday services.School bus passes a large increase .
Yet they still pursue the building of the fast track bus service which will be a white Elephant .
They could have saved millions if this had been turned down,
I have no faith in KCC .Officers on very high salaries and Councillors who get very good allowances .
Children and elderly people in rural areas and transport for vulnerable children will all suffer.
Bad decisions .
You cannot get a response to emails or letters .
Disgrace

As usual Aycliffe gets the short straw..
They are spending millions in the FastTrack bus service to Whitfield which does not include Aycliffe.
What a waste of money.
We already have a bus service from Aycliffe to Whitfield..
Also over six years ago I successfully got a petition through the DDC to provide extra parking at Aycliffe.
Guess what still waiting… Now that would be useful…

The consultation at least gives you the opportunity to air your views , So as a first step i urge everyone to take part in the KCC consultation
Lobby (if you know who they are!) Your local KCC councillors .

The consultation on the Fastrack was an absolute joke. It was carried out conveniently during lockdown, an online survey monkey designed for children, with questions that only allowed the answers DDC wanted. Only 11 properties in Guston received the official pack of information and Guston’s road network is going to completely change. I have written and asked for a meaningful consultation and have been told it’s not necessary. 200 Dover people responded to the consultation which is very low, and from reading responses many asked for a higher level of financial information before they would be willing to support the project, others said it wasn’t needed. DDC/KCC have taken no notice of these responses and our village is continuously told that if the money isn’t spent on the Fastrack then DDC will have to give the money back which they are adamant they don’t want to do. GIVE IT BACK! Now we are told other bus services are being axed- absolutely disgraceful claiming they have no money to subsidise when they waste so much money on cycle lanes and parklets. They need to be held to account

I agree with the above.I objected I even spoke to KCC members .I think the one I spoke to objected.to the proposal..This venture will be an eyesore for ever.So short sighted.Currently local bus services donot go where you need them.Useless talking to our MP.How will it be fast track with so many stops ?Once it gets to the top of Castle Hill it will be held up .Perfectly good bus service which serves Whitfield .
Whitfield Round about needs sorting .I wonder how often some of our Councillors venture further than the Council Offices.I never see my local Councillors .They do appear some times at a Parish Council Meeting. They are always ok for a photo call.Do they ever speak to the residents?I was at a funeral on Thursday .People always recall I was their Councillor.Even now I receive questions .
Still we are where we are and we the Council tax payer cough up or threatened with a letter for non payment

Sadly we need a complete shake up of DDC but unless voters stop returning the same party time and time again nothing will change. Consultations are useless because they don’t get completed by many who rely on bus services. The only way to get a realistic view of how people feel about the services would be to make the paperwork available on the current buses. If people were made aware of the reduction in the current services they maybe more inclined to make their views known. Even in the current era many who rely on buses are not necessarily media savvy or able to use online tools and that is in no way meant as a criticism, it’s just the way it is.
In the meantime the Government is trying to force us out of our cars and onto what will eventually be nonexistent public transport.

Net zero is already anathema to the conservative net zero scrutiny group. And, under Johnson, they will continue to spread an influence way beyond their democratic entitlement. It's been the same with the ERG. The tentacles of these self-serving halfwits spread much further than is commonly appreciated.
