i always thought that gravesend got its name from being the final resting ground of the indian princess pocohantos.
others believe it was because of the plague victims, that is also not true as the town's name was mentioned about 500 years before the great plague.

i do believe there is a small plague pit by the citadel,aycliffe side.but you wouldnt know its there if you didnt know where to look.
