  If it is not dangerous Peter take a union jack with you and lay claim to in the Queen's name. ONLY if it is not dangerous though.
  Best to act with some alacrity as even benign flotsam, a dead whale for instance, can go off (and how!) if not attended to lickety-split.

  The thing is still tooing and froing this morning...in the snow and the surf. As there were people on the beach yesterday afternoon enjoying the sunshine in and around it, well I figure it must be a benign object.   On a slightly more serious note I am surprised DHB have not removed the mine/fender to safety above the high water mark.
