I popped up into the attic earlier to check if the Christmas tree lights were still working.
While there I came across a present we forgot to give the kids last year.
A bit of a shame as they'd have loved that kitten.

It certainly is now I have just received my Christmas present from the Government that enormous extravagant gift of £10.
When introduced it was really something that would have really helped those who received it, now it must cost more than it is worth to administer. I would prefer it was now stopped and a much higher amount only went to those in genuine need.
£10 in 1972 when it was launched and now the equivalent would be £130.85 in 2019, (thanks to google)

We both get a Christmas present of £100. They call it Winter Fuel Allowance.

Being the only recipient in this household I get the whole £200, certainly helps keep me lovely and warm in the cold weather, although some does goes to charity.

Hell of a night last night. The police set up roadblocks to catch Xmas drink drivers on the main road out of town, I avoided this by taking a taxi. The police just waved all the taxis through & I arrived home safely 10mins later. I’m quite impressed, I’ve never driven one before.

Serious comment.
Do be especially careful on the roads over the next few weeks.
Many men will be drinking and asking their wives to drive the car ......

Equally serious comment.
Thank goodness for that, so much safer than all those drunken men behind the wheel.
I wonder how many of those men will get caught out for being over the limit the following morning.

Very brave!
Having more than one concurrent wife, I mean. Arguably worse than bungee-jumping. They must need their heads examining.

For Christmas have treated my partner to a trip on the Trans-Siberian Express.
I think the waitress is actually a bloke in a frock.
