22:2993410I think it should be law that every one Vote this the only way to get a true reading. All over the world we see the public dieing and geting killed just to vote, and in the UK most can not even turn off their TV ,and all voting should be postal.

Please think before you post - postal voting is rife with fraud today and will always be open to fraud and abuse.
Certainly not the way to encourage participation.
Compulsory voting does not guarantee 10% turn out - in fact no country that has this achieves a full turn out as there are people who would rather pay the fine than vote.
The only real way to increase genuine participation in the democratic and electoral process is for politicians to make their policies genuinely relevant to the electorate, to actually listen and take note of what the electorate say and to stop appearing to all be the same and entirely lacking in any principles. Until politicians and their parties do that people will refuse to participate

22:5993417There are ways now Ross that will make the postel vote 99.9 safe they do not use it yet but it is in place. You can never make all happy no party can do that ,what you have to do is pick one that is more in line with your own thinking than the others, but I do not have to tell you that do I?
The fines would have to very very big and if you still do not pay ,then off to jail for afew weeks to think it over again ready for the next time.

23:1093425Perhaps postal voting for prisoners? After all, they are hardly going to stage a massive breakout on polling day. Or are they?

23:1793427Alexander, Vic is my friend and I don't think you should attack him on doctrinal grounds on open forum. The forum is there for Keith to attack BarryW and for no other purpose. You are misusing it.

23:2093428Are you suggesting that people should be heavily fined and sent to prison for not voting?

23:2193429Or perhaps we should vote via the red button on our TV remote controls. Now that would get turnout well above 100%!

00:1393432Thank you for that Peter,I must point out to you what I am saying is my views and my views only and not that that of any party I might be in.
But is it not true even today we see on the TV that members of the public are geting killed just for the right to vote, aright which we have had in the Uk for well over 100years or more.
We know that we have the best way to run a country and our doctoring of that way is now done in alot of other countrys around the world.
We do not only owe it to ourselfs but the whole world that our way is best and that can only be done by all of the public in the UK voting and in that way the world will see that it works.

01:0293437Could Vic's conversion to postal voting be due to the fact he is currently standing for election to be a member of the East Kent University Hospital Trust Board of Governors (what a mouthful) and all the voting is by post?
How about bringing into the 21st century and voting by Facebook, the one with the most friends wins?

Vic only wants compulsorary voting introduced because he believes that more people would vote for him and the mentally unstabled Unzipped party.

09:1093446I am with you on this Marek. Compulsory voting would just result in more spoilt ballots.
By not voting people are making a statement.
