ukip are too close to the reds alex, they stood shoulder to shoulder at county hall in the debate over the living wage for kcc staff.
the evil blues won the day and consigned the underlings to penury.

At present UKIP hasn't made manifest a socialist-orientated programme, for instance guaranteeing workers' rights and how much a minimum salary should be.
Once they started campaigning for workers' rights and for wage guarantees that are acceptable, Labour should implode.
My guess is Keith S has seen this coming, has diligently left Labour some time back, and may well be followed by swathes of other people who used to believe in Labour.
Most people who voted for Labour did so because their granddad did, but that was when Labour relied on the Unions.
Now that's all gone.
When Milliband went to the Police to report the Unions for something they hadn't done in Falkirk, his reputation went with it.
The Unions are looking elsewhere now.
So yes, Keith S was right in leaving Labour long ago.

What a wast of ones time to go to a voting hall and then spoil your voting paper there is no point in doing that ,as you all know all that happens at the vote they get counted up and that is all what point is there in that?

There is no point in spoiling one's vote.
Whereas by not voting, the turnout is lower.
I voted for the Fair Lady last May. I went to Church!

I too have long thought that spoiling ones ballot paper was 'odd, to say the least. I have since had to finesse that view.
As things stand...
The low-turnout at Elections avails us not at all. Such might be spoken of as 'concerning', much might be said of the drive to improve Voter participation, but NOTHING comes of any of this.
And yet, there is little actual justification for equating low-turnout with Political apathy among the electorate, it is spoken of in this way because there is nothing that is going to be done to attract more voters to the Polling Stations.
There is something of a push to allow for a 'None of the above' option on all ballot papers, but there is also great resistance to it.
I did notice that ballot-spoiling did get a mention over the vote for 'AV+' (or was it 'AV' ?), but then again maybe I noticed because I spoiled my ballot paper too.
If Politics is ever going to be a Personal issue, as I believe it should be, then there must be a willingness on the part of the Voter to attend to their duty and spoil their ballot-paper if there is noting positive for them to Vote for.
The Political Establishment is entirely content for Voters to stay home, and churches are open more often than Polling Stations.

This matter seems easily resolvable, for there seems to have been a whole host of possible witnesses.

Of course there can be good reason to spoil ballot papers, tom touches partly on some.
I will be for 2 reasons (none being anything to do with alexanders misguided view)
1; A women only shortlist was introduced by the national/local labour party which i dont agree with
my view(as many women within the labour party agree)is that the candidate should be the best for the job whether they be male or female.
A lot of women find it an insult to be pushed into the women only shortlist method.
2; By way of protest that of the parties I cannot support any of them
(closer to the election with others i will be suggesting others follow my lead if they share my view)

I am not in favour of positive discrimination in any walk of live but I must say that Claire seems to be raising the profile of her party so was a good choice.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Jan;
All candidates do that.
As I have said Claire MAY well do a good job(if theres not to many disgruntled ex labour people thinking like me) and I hope she does.
My grumble is more about the procedure.
There are other issues obviously nationally that have given me concerns
so in 2015 I will spoil my ballot papers and campaign for others to do the same if they think the same
but of course its a choice thing

agree with all that has been written in that the selection criteria was appalling, surprised it didn't break the law actually but clair is very active in the constituency and is building a strong personal following.

....."All candidates do that".....
But some are better at it than others, most wait until nearer election time to raise their profile.

Jan;
Claire is no different to any other labour candidate(imposed or otherwise)
the labour party is always high profile in the towns weekly and active
one of the things they do well with a few active volunteers
its when she comes under scrutiny together with the national party, thing might get a little tougher

i have to hand it to both charlie and clair, they get everywhere - not often you can go to an event in the constituency without bumping into one or both.
