15:5571155Marek - that's if his remains are actually still there, rumour has it that they are not

Diana and Sid.

20:0071206Marek, that rumour is old, I've been hearing that one for years. The truth is the French won't ever get rid of Morrison's grave simply because, as what is believed to be the second most visited grave in the world after Elvis Presley, it simply draws too much tourism to Paris.

20:5171222I agree, whether Jim is actually there or not the grave will remain as hundreds of people visit it on a daily basis. I believe that the reason they now have security guards in Pere Lachaise is because of amount of visitors to his grave and to keep people from climbing in over the fence surrounding it and taking souvenirs.

21:3571235Whilst (kind of) on the subject of odd monuments, here is another grave I found. I've never seen another quite like it before!

22:2271248Might be a prickly subject, but who resides there?

Good point.I'll lay that rumour to rest then I have most of his (the Doors) albums plus a copy of the film the Doors starring Val Kilmer if my memory is correct. It's best watched with a bottle of JD in hand.Bloody excellent.

23:1671278Marek... a fellow Doors fan? I'm afraid I am totally and hopelessly obsessed with Jim Morrison, and have been for years. All the albums, all the live recordings, DVDs, every poetry book he ever wrote, two visits to the grave, and even a tattoo of the guy on my arm. I've even been in the presence of Robby Krieger's guitar (I'm SUCH a geek). I recently bought the brand new documentary film When You're Strange which has some amazing footage of Morrison shortly before he died.
Jeane... that monument kinda looks like a middle finger!

Rick, maybe they are giving death the middle finger

.
I always go and visit Jim and pay my respects to him when I'm in Paris.
