21:2292900I was in town this morning. opposite M&S there is a Luggage and Bag shop opening soon. I saw the lady from the bag stall in the Indoor Market moving in.
Beaches which is the nice furniture stall also in the Indoor Market is moving opposite Boots. Glad to see some have found alternative premises.

22:3392915Nevertheless still good news Paul, and surely two new shops are worthy of a new thread. I wonder if any of the other retailers within the indoor market will be looking for their own premises. I'd love to see those two old party shops full of something good & also the old shoe shop opposite La Salle Verte.

22:3592918Hang on, now I mention it I just had a flashback of Nigel Collor having his photo taken with some bod outside that old shoe shop!! That must have been a year or more ago, what was that for??

08:3192944No idea Jeanette, I'm sure it wasn't just to get in the papers ! Thinking about it, wasn't it going to be split in two and half to be a cafe ?
I understand that the inside of that shoe-shop is in such a poor state that it will cost a fortune to put right and of course with a full-repair-lease, the lessee pays it all and the rent wouldn't be reduced to allow for the work to be done - so it stays closed/empty.

11:0192963Does anyone know when Poundland plan to move into the premises?
It must be very soon as the two businesses that are moving into the High Street had to vacate fairly fast I am told.

13:2192975Thats Good News Alan, when you say the pet shop next door do you mean Jolley's? Lets hope that we do not lose them as they are a great store, another relocation?

16:3193011Yes, we seem to have moved location. I seem to recall that Humphy told us that Jollies weren't closing. The new store will an "Express" type and therefore small. I can't see the logic in taking over adjoining stores.

16:3993013I also remember that discredited rumour some time ago that the two shops were closing, maybe it has been revived. I was told some time ago by one of the Netto supervisors that it was going to be an "Exprees" shop.

21:3293067Terry you are right we are not closing, neither is FarmFoods or Pound Streatcher, we all have very long leases left on our shops,so lets put the cap on the silly rumours now please as it is not good for our bussiness or any of the other shops,

18:5093193Wrong, Brian. They are getting compulsory purchase orders for the whole of Aycliffe. The whole area will be concreted on a slight slope. There will be alterations made to the A20 so that they can let off the handbrake and coast all the way to the docks without using their engines, thus conserving fuel, reducing pollution, and not waking up all the champagne socialists in the Gateway flats.

18:5593196Why not champagne slopes for champagne socialists Peter. Chalky slopes are good for the chardonnay grape.

18:5993198Yes but the very best champagnes are actually made mostly from Pinot noir with only a touch of Chardonnay. (not a lot of people know that). Even with global warming we can't grow Pinot noir here.
