22:0488105I had to stop taking the antibiotics as they were making me extremely sick even though I was taking them with anti-sickness pills. I had no appetite and what little I did eat didn't stay down for long. In 3 days I lost the 6 pounds in weight I had spent weeks putting back on.
I feel very isolated, I can't really go anywhere in case I catch something and no one wants to visit me in case they gave me a cold!
Hopefully when I am better that I will be able to put my experience to some use and advise and visit others who are going through pneumonia or septicemia or have and need some support or just a friendly chat. That way it won't all have been a waste.
I was thinking, we say 'sick as a dog' because dogs will eat anything and are often sick if they do. I'm sick but can't eat anything so I'm sick as a........what?!

08:2588121Parrot !
Is your immune system shot to bits Jeane ?
Jean's is almost non-existent and she catches just about everything there is around.
There's lots of people on here who care, so don't feel isolated.

12:1888154Ah yes a parrot
It is most definitely shot to bits Roger. Yes poor Jean I can imagine she must be very vulnerable to infections and colds.
Thank you for your kind words. I was having a bit of a 'pity party' yesterday as I felt so rough. I realise there are people far worse off than me and I shouldn't complain.

12:2188156Jeanne - I am so sorry I missed your situation being pre-occupied elsewhere. I am sorry you are having such a rough time. And you always seem to remain so upbeat and positive throughout it all. Jeanne - hugs to you with genuine sympathy and affection.

13:5588175Thank you so much Bern, I really appreciate it. Please don't apologise for missing this, you have more than enough on your plate at the moment. As I mentioned on your thread about your blog I am keeping your mother and your good self in my thoughts and prayers.

19:0188242Jeane, I had the flu, it seemed to be a sleeping flu, and I just slept and slept. Today I managed 11 hours.

11:1588564That's impressive Alexander. Wish I could sleep like that. I think I have the non-sleeping version.
I am pleased to say I am feeling a bit better. I spent yesterday having a girly day at the hairdressers being pampered which was lovely and relaxing.

18:3988604i thought that vitamin c has been discredited, maybe it is back in vogue again.
certainly agree about rest being more useful than amoxicillin.

I think it's in vogue again this week Howard. It depends what you read! I definitely prefer it to Amoxicillin, it doesn't make me sick!!

14:3389207Hi Marek, they seemed to think it was the pneumonia which was still causing problems. I was given antibiotics which I had to stop taking after 3 days as they were making me very sick (I lost 6 pounds in a few days.) Thankfully I am feeling much better now and having had a lovely weekend away I am sure I have put on some of the weight I've lost with all the fabulous full English breakfasts I devoured! Incidentally wasn't offered the flu injection.
I have also joined the Meningitis and Septicemia organisation with a view to training to become one of their councillors. The reason I was feeling so down is partly due to the after effects of septicemia which I didn't realise. A lot of what I attributed to the pneumonia wasn't caused by it, I'm learning a lot!

13:5392307I got some good news today - I have been discharged from hospital care. My x rays showed a good recovery from the pneumonia and my liver function blood tests have come back considerably improved. I was so sacred to open the letter but cried with relief when I did.
